It’s time for the Trojans to bitch slap what might be the
best player in college basketball this year in Texas swing-man Kevin Durant.

The Trojans have not divulged who will be guarding Durant
but most believe that it will be a combination of forwards Nick Young and Taj
Gibson.

Personally, I think that’s a bad idea… Gibson and Young
are the biggest offensive threats the Trojans have and Durant is a guy who
spends a lot of time at the free throw line because he likes to take the rock to
the hole.

Here’s what I would do:

First I play centers N’Diaye and Cromwell part-time. I
rotate those two bruising type centers with guard Dwight Lewis. the way I see
it, you have 10 fouls to give with N’Diaye and Cromwell and I say you make them
count. I think if you punish Durant early, if you punish him for taking it to
the hole then he winds up taking a lot more jumpers then normal and this’ll give
your offense a fighting chance.

The Trojans are also going to need big and complete games
from senior Lodrick Stewart and junior Gabe Pruitt. Pruitt is going to have to
clamp down on Texas guard D.J. Augustin (another standout freshman for this
team). At this point you have to expect big games from Taj Gibson and Nick Young
or you may not have any chance of winning at all.

Personally I think USC can pull it off tonight but I
think they have to cut off Durant early and make Texas hit shots from the
perimeter. Should be a great game!

USC vs. Texas is scheduled to start at 2:15 PM today.
