Oakland Raiders 2008 Football Preview

The Oakland Raiders are gonna ahve a tough time of it this 2008 NFL Football season… here are a few reasons why:
- Jamarcus Russell is basically a rookie quarterback and based on what I saw in the pre-season he has a lot of work to do. Russell seems incapable of throwing into tight coverage and of grasping a more complex offense and with the receiving corps of the Raiders, there’s going to be a lot of tight coverage.
- The Oakland Raiders have a patch work offensive line that is average-to-good at run blocking and average-at-best at pass blocking. It’s not good when you have a rookie QB who’s having trouble making decisions and an offensive line that can’t protect them…
- The Oakland Raiders have average receivers. Ron Curry? An unmotivated Javon Walker who wanted to retire in the off season? And those are your best 2 receivers? Again that’s trouble when you have a rookie QB who needs all the help he can get.
- A divided locker room. It’s no secret that head coach Lane Kiffin doesn’t gt along with defensive coordinator Rob Ryan and that Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis won’t let Kiffin fire Ryan. From what I saw in the pre season and form the comments I heard… The Oakland Raiders have an offensive and defensive coordinator in Kiffin and Ryan and a head coach in Al Davis… and that spells for a bad season!
The Oakland Raiders will never be relevant again until owner Al Davis steps aside and actually hires a head coach to be the head coach of this Oakland Raiders team. At this point Raiders Football is a mere shell of what it used to be… the unfortunate thing is that Raider owner Al Davis no longer remembers the past few years of losing.
The last thing that Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis remembers is that missed kick in the snow against the Patriots…
