Nomar Garciaparra is Looking Old!

Man is Nomar Garciaparra starting to look old or what?

I saw him get blown away by a Juan Cruz fastball last night and one thought immediately came to mind…

Grady Little, please give this guy some time off!

I understand that Nomar is struggling on the road and today is the last game of a 10-game road trip but let’s remember that Nomar is playing 3rd Base now, he’s going to be turning 35 this July and he has a history of injury problems.

All that being said, you also have Rookie Tony Abreu who can fill in at 3rd (and 2nd for that matter - Jeff Kent is another guy who could use some time off), Little also has the option of playing Wilson Betemit at 3rd to see if he’ll come out of his season long slump some time soon and of course Little always has the option of using Olmedo Saenz at 3rd when the pitching matchup is in his favor.

The Dodgers signed Nomar to provide a veteran bat in the lineup and because he was willing to play wherever the Dodgers needed him to play and I think it’s imperative if the Dodgers expect him to give them quality at bats down the line
then they’re going to have to start resting him every few days.

What’s the point of having Nomar Garciaparra play 3rd Base if he’s only going to be batting .270 with 1 home run?
