Los Angeles Clippers Need to Blow This Roster Up
Filed under: Los Angeles Clippers
It’s time for Donald Sterling and Elgin Baylor to blow this roster up.
This was supposed to be the year for the Clippers…stop me if you’ve heard that one before but this year it was a little different. They actually have talent!
I mean correct me if I’m wrong but there were high expectations at the beginning of this season for this team right?
I think the Clippers need to go into this off season and look to completely change the look of this team for next season.
This team has talent.Â
It has perimeter shooters in Cuttino Mobley and TimThomas. Perennial all-star power forward in Elton Brand. A small forward in Corey Maggette who should be averaging 20-25 points a night. A better-then-average center in Chris Kaman. A veteran, former all-star point guard in Sam Cassell as well as point guard of the future: Shaun Livingston.
For whatever reason (and that reason could very well be coach Mike Dunleavy) this Clipper bunch hasn’t been able to put it together and this roster has to be blown up.
I say keep Elton Brand and pretty much make everyone else trade-able. He’s the guy you need to build this team around.
The Clippers need a point guard because Cassell is too old and Livingston is not the answer and he’s probably going to be out all year.
Most teams would probably want to hold on to a guy like Corey Maggette but the Clippers have somewhat of a dilema because he and coach Mike Dunleavy don’t seem to get along…
Tim Thomas has a reputation for being a player with a poor work ethic…
Cuttino Mobley hasn’t been the deep threat the Clippers signed him to be…
Chris Kaman is a better-then average, young center but he had an off year after signing a long-term contract in the off-season…
Add to all of this the fact that the Clippers have not drafted particularly well as of late…
And you end up with a roster of players that isn’t gelling well and can’t win. Plain and simple.
Time to change things up fellas.
