The trade rumor at the moment is a three team deal that involves the Houston Rockets, New Orleans Hornets and Los Angeles Lakers. The Houston rockets would obtain Pau Gasol with the Hornets picking up Lamar Odom, Kevin Martin and Luis Scola. The Lakers would pick up Chris Paul in the deal.
My thoughts on this deal are the Lakers need to slow the hell down…
Before you even consider trading for Chris Paul, you need to lock up Dwight Howard. If the Lakers sign CP3 but they don’t pick up Howard, what you have is an aging back court and a fragile center in Andrew Bynum! And by trading away Lamar Odom for Chris Paul, the Lakers may not have enough pieces to bring Dwight Howard out of Orlando.
The Lakers need to slow the hell down… they’re giving up way too much for Chris Paul in this deal. Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom for Chris Paul really? If you’re going to give up those two pieces you better be bringing back Dwight Howard in the deal. At least with Howard you have your center for the next decade… what do you get with Chris Paul? Another two or three seasons?
