Florida Game Proves How Good a Coach Ben Howland Is

The UCLA Bruins got pounded by the Florida Gators on Saturday…

A lot of people are talking about how Aaron Afflalo picked up 2 early fouls  and how that could have had a big impact on the outcome of the game…

I don’t think so.

You could’ve given Aaron Afflalo the immunity idol for fouls and the Bruins still would’ve gotten clobbered…just not as bad.

This team got here on the strength of their defense, their team play and the impeccable coaching of Ben Howland.

And unfortunately on Saturday they just ran into a team that was simply more talented then they were. Let’s face it, the Gators have a few players that will be paying in the NBA next year and the Bruins maybe have 1 in Aaron Afflalo and he is a projected late 1st round pick or maybe even an early 2nd rounder so that’s not saying much for the talent that comprised this UCLA team.

But it does speak volumes about Ben Howland. Howland will take any team and make them better and now it will be very interesting to see what he can do with some of the more talented players he has coming in next year…

Afflalo needs to come back and finish his senior season.  He may want to go to the NBA but he’ll end up on someone’s developmental team. Jordan Farmar, who is more talented then Afflalo, is currently spending some time with the Lakers D - team (and he was a late 1st round pick) so what does that tell you about Afflalo’s prospects?

Stay in school kid!
